Early Years Foundation Stage

Early Years Foundation Stage

Our self-contained, early years department provides the children with an environment which is secure, bright, happy and stimulating. The nursery children are led by fully qualified practitioners.
The indoor space is separated into activity areas, whilst the attached, garden area provides an ideal space for exploration outside, this is in addition to use of our adventure playground, playing fields and wildlife area!
The curriculum is delivered through a combination of child led and adult led activities.  Children learn through exciting and stimulating topics that incorporate the six areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.  As young children learn best through first hand experience and structured play, our topics are carefully planned to provide opportunities for investigation, problem solving and visits to places of educational interest.

Role Play
Music, gym and swimming are introduced as fun activities by specialist teachers.
Children in the nursery frequently visit the rest of the pre-prep and the prep school to utilise the school facilities, familiarise themselves with the environment, and be included in school events. Strong links between the departments ensure that the transition is calm and happy.
Children can join in the term in which they are three and we offer both full time and part time places.
