Team and individual sports
Children take exercise every day. In Autumn, the main sport is hockey; in Spring, netball and in Summer, athletics, rounders and tennis. Cross country courses wind through the chalk valleys in the Spring and Autumn.
There are PE lessons, gymnastics and trampolining in the JB Hall and swimming lessons in the Bryanston Pool.
Sports clubs – including competitive swimming and extra tennis – allow children to develop individual talents. Knighton girls have performed great feats in regional and national competitions.
Knighton’s intimate size means that all pupils get the chance to participate in team sports, encouraging teamwork and boosting self-esteem. We play matches home and away around Dorset and take part in local and regional tournaments.
Each term house matches are played, in a spirit of generous competitiveness, in all major sports. Year 8 take on the staff at netball and the parents at rounders – two of most keenly anticipated fixtures of the year.
